The Swedish Open, an ATP Tour 250 tournament in Bastad, has been held every summer since 1948. A number of Swedish greats, including Bjorn Borg, Mats Wilander, Magnus Gustafsson, Magnus Normanand Robin Soderling, are former champions.
Two-time finalist Fernando Verdasco will return for his 12th Bastad appearance in 2019, and will look to join the likes of fellow Spaniards Rafael Nadal, David Ferrer and Tommy Robredo on the honour roll. The field will also feature Cristian Garin, a winner of two clay-court titles this season, Frenchmen Richard Gasquet and Jeremy Chardy, and 2014 champion Pablo Cuevas.
