The Cochranton boys cross country team and Conneaut Area’s Meaera Shannon both had dominant performances during a Region 3 tri-meet between the Cardinals, the Eagles and the Maplewood Tigers on Tuesday at Cochranton Elementary School.
Shannon won her race by nearly four minutes, while leading the Lady Eagles (2-2, 2-2 Region 3) to the sweep, 15-50 over a runner-less Cochranton team and 27-28 over Maplewood.
Helping CASH to the victories were Chloe Fields in third (24:27); Natalie Humes in sixth (26:16); Zoe Balsamo in eighth (29:43) and Sarah Lasko in ninth (30:13).
The Maplewood girls (1-3, 1-3 Region 3) picked up the forfeit win over Cochranton 15-50. Alexis Wyant had a strong showing for the Tigers, finishing second in 23:10. Lisa Prenatt was fourth in 25:03. Riley Atkins was fifth in 25:10.
In boys action, Cochranton (4-0, 4-0 Region 3) had the first four runners across the line, and five in the top six while winning 15-58 over Maplewood and 16-39 over Conneaut.
Noah Bernarding scorched his home course to take first in 16:57. He was followed across by Franklin Morris in second (18:07); Chase Miller in third (18:12); Alex Jackson in fourth (18:49) and Anthony Freer in sixth (19:27).
The CASH boys (2-2, 2-2 Region 3) picked up a 16-47 win over Maplewood (0-4, 0-4 Region 3), thanks to Nathaniel Turner’s fifth-place time of 19:03. Jordan Kullen (19:47), Dylan Fletcher (19:47) and Evan Alsdorf (19:49) came in 7-8-9.
