Chinese company Sichuan Road and Bridge Group delivered the steel constructions and was responsible for the mounting of the bridge, according to Life in Norway.
Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg cut the ribbon on the Hålogaland Bridge and despite cold weather, many locals came out to witness the opening ceremony.
With a total length of 1,533 meters and a free span of 1,145 meters, the Hålogaland Bridge is the longest suspension bridge within the Arctic Circle.
The bridge crosses the Rombaksfjorden in the municipality of Narvik. It shortens the driving distance from Narvik to Bjerkvik by 17 kilometers and from Narvik to Bjørnfjell, via European Route E10 by 5 kilometers.
The construction started in February 2013.
