Eataly, an Italian retail and dining company with 40 locations around the world, has agreed to stock its American businesses with Nordic Blu Salmon, a Norwegian net pen-raised Atlantic salmon bought from CleanFish, the San Francisco, California-based wholesaler said in a press release issued Thursday.
Salten Aqua Group, in Fauske, Norway, claimed its Nordic Blu product is the first and only marine net-pen raised Atlantic salmon rated “Green — Best Choice” by the Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch program. The fish made its debut in March at Seafood Expo North America, in Boston, Massachusetts.
Reportedly key to the rating is Salten’s use of an omega-3 heavy feed that includes only 17.3% marine content, giving it a fish in, fish out ratio of 1.13:1.Storms on the horizon could change that at any time.
