Jakob Ingebrigtsen launched himself into the history booked yesterday when he became the youngest European champion by winning the 1500m.
But the teenager wasn’t finished there as he shocked the world in the 5000m this evening.
Ingebrigtsen led from the front for the final few laps with his older brother, Filip, in close proximity.
However, he got the crowd on their feet on the final lap as he sprinted away from his brother to roars from the Berlin audience as he raced over the line to become the youngest double European champion.
Who is Jakob Ingebrigtsen?
At 17 years old, Jakob Ingebrigtsen has already established himself as one of the most exciting talents in world athletics.
But he comes from Norway’s most famous athletics family with older brothers Filip and Henrik having won European gold medals in the 1500m as well.
Henrik, 27, and Filip, 25, were both competing in the 2018 European Championships but were amazingly overshadowed by their younger brother.
Jakob Ingebrigtsen won his first major title at the age of 16 last year in the men’s under-20 race at the SPAR European Cross Country Championships in Chia.
2017 also saw him become the first person born this century to run a mile in under four minutes.
